Enhanced Split Shift Naming & Display
This release removes previous limitations on split shift naming and improves how longer names are displayed in NHS at Work (web and mobile).
Key functionality
1. Extended Character Limit & Improved Display
- Split shift names can now contain up to 200 characters
- Supports more detailed and meaningful shift descriptions (e.g. complex GP activities)
- Long names are intelligently truncated within grid views
- The system still validates against duplicate names to ensure data integrity and enable reporting.

Improvements to Rota Pay Calculations
We have delivered a series of improvements to how rota pay and related calculations are handled within NHS at Work, focusing on greater consistency, accuracy, and alignment with contractual rules.
These updates include refinements to:
- How LTFT (Less Than Full Time) pay and leave are calculated, ensuring they more accurately reflect working patterns
- The way average hours and leave adjustments are applied across rota calculations
- The calculation of night premium and qualifying hours, ensuring consistent application of contractual rules
- The handling of specific shift scenarios (such as overnight and on-call patterns) to ensure correct treatment within pay calculations
These enhancements ensure that rota calculations are:
- Accurate and consistent across all rota types
- Aligned to the 2016 Resident Doctor Contract
- More transparent and reliable for users reviewing pay and reports
