Purpose
Rostered staff can create, edit, and view leave requests in NHS At Work, including annual leave, bank holidays, and study leave. This guide covers the steps to create and manage your own leave requests.
Creating a Leave Request
There are 2 ways to create a leave request:
- Select 'My Schedule' from the left-hand menu OR Select 'My Roster' from the left-hand menu.
- Click the ellipsis on the right-hand side, and select ‘Add Leave.’
- Complete the form, including the type of leave, whether you are requesting a single or multiple days of leave, leave dates, and leave approver. The approver you choose will receive a notification to review your request.
- Click ‘Submit’.
Top Tip! Ensure you select the person responsible for approving your leave requests from the approver list to facilitate the quickest possible processing time.
Top Tip! Your remaining leave entitlement will be visible when requesting leave, providing these have been set up by your Superuser Team.
Requesting Other Leave Types
When requesting study leave, note that you will need to select a 'secondary reason' indicating the type of study you are undertaking. For guidance on which option to select for this, and other forms of leave, please refer to your organisation's policies or speak to your line manager in the first instance.
Viewing My Requests
To view your existing requests, navigate to 'Manage Requests' in the left-hand menu, and then 'Manage Leave'. In this screen, you will be able to see your existing leave requests, the details of each request and its approval status.
Viewing Unavailability
There are 2 ways to view your unavailability:
- From the left-hand menu, select 'Rostering' and then 'My Schedule.’ Unavailability will show as a grey block.
- Click on any date with a grey dot to view the details of the unavailability.
OR
- From the left-hand menu, select 'Rostering' and then 'My Roster.’
- Unavailability will show in a hatched box, with a grey shift below representing the cancelled shift you would have worked.
- Click the 2 dots on any date to view details of the unavailability and cancelled shift.
Top Tip! An Unavailability request with an 'hourglass'
icon is awaiting approval. While awaiting approval, you will still be able to edit or delete it. Once approved, you will need to speak to your roster manager to make any changes.
